Visual psychophysics
Manfred Fahle and Eberhart Zrenner
During the last year, a wealth of studies was published on visual psychophysics
in normal observers, advancing our understanding of the function of the
visual system. Here, both basic studies and clinical investigations are
reviewed. Among the studies in "pure" psychophysics, we concentrate
on those an binocular interactions (stereoscopic depth and rivalry), motion
perception, attention and parallel perception, hyperacuity, visual persistence,
and contrast and blur, as well as on color vision. In clinical psychophysics,
studies dealing with glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, and the effects of
neurologic disorders on visual perception are reviewed.
